Improves visibility and facilitates transportation of mobility scooters.A quick, easy, safe and affordable way to transport a scooter or wheelchair with a vehicle hitch.
A hitch pin is not provided, and some grinding might be necessary to ensure a proper fit. The carrier tends to drag over certain humps or inclined road surfaces, but it holds up well; an elevation adjustment would prevent this issue.
Several screws were missing, and the instructions were difficult to comprehend. This purchase turned out to be the worst decision I've made because now I have to find a replacement. I am extremely frustrated because I shouldn't have to deal with these issues given the amount of money spent. As someone with a spinal cord injury, assembling this was already challenging, and having missing parts and unclear instructions only added to my frustration.
I bought this scooter carrier for my scooter. My husband assembled it effortlessly, commenting that all parts interconnected seamlessly. He found the metal frame to be robust and of high-quality construction, and he would definitely recommend this product.
My boyfriend installed the carrier quickly, especially since we already had a hitch in place. It functions effectively overall. We encountered one minor problem where one of the pull pins on the ramp designed to keep it upright didn't align with its hole. Fortunately, there were spare pins available, and one worked just fine. Loading my scooter onto it was easy, and using bungee cords secures it well. Interestingly, my boyfriend even uses it to transport various large items like bags of dog and chicken food, and even his work-related pressure washer, making it highly versatile.
Yes, I had anticipated the instructions to be subpar. Yes, I had expected it to arrive in a flimsy cardboard box without any protective measures, almost guaranteeing chips and dents in the powder coat. Yes, I had foreseen that the locking pins would be misaligned and placed on the incorrect side of the carrier.
I must admit that all my predictions came true. Well done!
That being said... Despite numerous complaints about the positioning and misalignment of the locking pins, a small part of me had wished they would have conducted even a minuscule amount of quality control to ensure proper alignment before leaving the factory. Unfortunately, it seems that task was beyond their capabilities. How naive I was.
Fortunately, I can take the entire assembly to work, drill new holes to mount the bracket on the proper side of the carrier, and reposition the hex nuts through welding to make it functional. It's disappointing that this extra work is necessary, but that's the reality.
If you have the resources to address the inherent issues with this carrier and are aware that corrections may be needed, then it's not a terrible purchase. However, if you lack the means to make these adjustments, I would recommend looking for an alternative.
